I am a Hairy Woodpecker
Downys look like me but one thing I lack -
My outer tail feathers are solid white
Downys tail feathers are spotted black.

Very special thanks to today's guest photographer, Scott Jordan.

I am a Hairy Woodpecker
I eat insects and moth pupa cocoons
I also drink sap and sugarcane
If I had teeth, I would have a sweet tooth!

I am a Hairy Woodpecker,
Note the picture shot from behind -
The thin black line separating the red
Is one way I can be positively defined.

I am a Downy Woodpecker
You might confuse me with the Hairy
But I have white spots on my outer tail feathers,
And they're bigger than me - if you're comparing.
