I am known as a Pied-bill Grebe
I can trap water in my feathers
This allows me to control my buoyancy
I can sink and rise whenever, where ever.

Location: City Hall, Palm Coast

I'm known as a Pied-bill Grebe,
And I'm having a really bad time.
All because some terrible person
Was careless with their fishing line.

(We alerted an official who will hopefully be able to take care of the bird. If you go fishing PLEASE always dispose of used fishing line appropriately. We see far too many birds in this predicament.)

July 3, 2017

Location: Viera, Viera Wetlands

I'm known as a Pied-bill Grebe,
I'm small and chunky and have almost no tail.
I float very low in the water,
And look like a rowboat whose hull is starting to fail!

(Disclaimer: Due to a minor hand issue I've not been able to use my camera so am posting some older pictures that I haven't included before on this blog.  I will resume my regular 8:00 am postings soon, but for now, please enjoy these blasts from the past.)
