I am known as a Cooper's Hawk

You can identify me in flight

I look like some hawks superficially

But you can ID me by my flap-flap-glide.

I am a young Cooper's Hawk

When I get older, my head will be darker

Right now I'm a warm reddish-brown color

But my long, striped tail's an identifying marker.

I am known as a Cooper's Hawk

My favorite food is birds

I sometimes hang around bird feeders

Where sweet, tasty birds are served.

(True story: A few years ago, I was watching a large group of birds at my feeders and a bunch of doves on the ground below. I looked away for a moment, and when I looked back, there was just one bird out in my yard. I was wondering where my birds had gone, till I realized that the one bird remaining was a Cooper's Hawk!)

I am known as a Cooper's Hawk,
I'm easy to recognize cause my tail is long.
I wear a dark cap on the top of my head
And my wings are rounded and broad.
