This is a Ganoderma,

It is in the genus of polypore fungi

The family Ganodermataceae has about 80 species

Without DNA analysis, a species ID is hard to come by.

Growing where once a sweet gum grew

Twas struck by lightning, then too much wind

Now life begins anew
