In the 1800's people would sometimes pay

$50 dollars to own me and hear me sing

I'd be worth over $1000 dollars today. *

*But it's not legal so don't even think about it.

I am a baby Northern Mockingbird

Looking ever so innocent

But right before Dee took this picture

I was involved in a Scrub Jay incident!

(This guy has been hanging around one of the Scrub Jay families that I monitor. It's a little odd in that his mom doesn't care about the Scrub Jays, but I've seen this little booger dive-bombing and harassing the family.)

You can find me in many places

I might look sweet, but don't mess with me

I remember threatening faces.

When I start to molt can depend on breeding
I'm one of the the few birds that can overlap
Molting my feathers while the kids are still feeding.

And live in tree-lined and grassy environs.
