We are known as House Sparrows

Alaska's the only place in America where we aren't found

We were introduced here in the 1800's

And now, where there's man-made structures, we abound.

We are a male and female House Sparrow

We cohabitate with people

We eat insects and seeds

And livestock feed

And nest in traffic lights, roofs and steeples.

I'm quite partial to living with humans -

I help them with studies of pest control.

I am a male breeding House Sparrow

I like to live where I have human neighbors

Because I'm so common, I'm easily studied

As evidenced by nearly 5000 published scientific papers.
